A strange object washed ashore on California beaches after massive surf, prompting a response from the Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Office Bomb Team.
The object was determined to be an inert military ordnance from the 1960s.

“Sharing what our Bomb Team does and the different type of calls they respond to helps the community get a better understanding of how diverse our Sheriff’s Office is,” Ashley Keehn, public information officer with the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office stated.
“It also shows the importance of having the type of technology to be able to respond to these kinds of calls.”
The incident occurred amid intense, high surf along the California coast, causing injuries and prompting High Surf Advisories from San Diego to San Francisco.
