Patrick Divver, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), said, “Jose Leonardo Marquez-Marquez posed a significant threat to people in and around the U.S. Capitol.”
“Thanks to our law enforcement partners at the U.S. Capitol Police, this threat was mitigated quickly. Fortunately, Marquez is currently in ERO custody and will face removal proceedings,” he continued.
The surge has strained resources and led to concerns about the asylum process and President Biden’s reelection campaign.
Border Patrol is on pace to set a new monthly record for apprehensions, particularly of family units and migrants from Venezuela.
