During Donald Trump’s presidency, the Chinese government and its state-controlled entities made payments of over $5.5 million to properties owned by Trump, the largest sum from any foreign country.
These payments included funds from China’s Embassy, a state-owned bank accused of aiding North Korea, and a state-owned air transit company.
The House Democrats’ report revealed that China was one among 20 countries that collectively made at least $7.8 million in payments to Trump’s businesses. (Trending: Trump Announces Heartbreaking Melania-Related Health Update)
The records raise concerns about potential influence on Trump through his companies.
Notably, Trump did not impose sanctions on a state-owned Chinese bank that leased property at Trump Tower, despite its involvement in evading US sanctions.
The Chinese Embassy reiterated its non-interference policy in US politics and emphasized adherence to local laws and regulations.
Chinese Embassy spokesperson Liu Pengyu, said, “China adheres to the principle of non-interference in internal affairs and does not comment on issues related to US domestic politics.”
“At the same time, I want to stress that the Chinese government always requires Chinese companies to operate overseas in accordance with local laws and regulations. China-US economic and trade cooperation is mutually beneficial. China opposes the US politicizing China-US economic and trade issues,” added Pengyu.
