Vladimir Putin vowed that Russia will persist in the face of challenges, particularly the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and economic pressures from Western sanctions.
His New Year’s address aimed to reassure the nation, emphasizing unity and development.
Despite increasing casualties in the Ukraine war, the Russian military faces challenges in rebuilding its forces, with rare protests against conscription taking place in Russia.
“We have proven time and time again that we can solve even the most difficult problems, and we will never back down, because there is no such force that can divide us, makes us forget the memory and faith of our fathers, to stop our development,” said Putin.
“We are one country, one big family. We will ensure the confident development of the Fatherland, the well-being of our citizens, we will become even stronger. We are together. And this is the most reliable guarantee of the future of Russia,” continued the Russian leader.
While Ukraine’s financial backers are showing signs of waning confidence, both Russia and Ukraine seem prepared to escalate the conflict in the coming year, indicating a lack of willingness to negotiate.
