Thousands of junior doctors in Britain began a six-day strike, the longest in the history of the National Health Service, leading to the cancellation of tens of thousands of appointments and operations.

The strike comes amidst ongoing demands for pay rises to combat the rising cost of living.

The healthcare system, already strained by the pandemic, faces additional challenges due to the strike. (Trending: Fauci’s Ex-Boss Admits The Truth About COVID)

Julian Hartley, chief executive of heath care managers’ organization NHS Providers, said the strike starts “immediately after the Christmas and New Year period because of the pressures the demands, and of course we’ve got flu, we’ve got COVID.”

“So there’s going to be an impact on patients that will be significant,” he continued.

Negotiations between the government and the union representing junior doctors have stalled, with the union seeking a credible pay offer before further talks.

Dr. Vivek Trivedi, co-chair of the British Medical Association’s Junior Doctors Committee, said, “The notion that we’re hellbent on calling strikes and all we want to do is call strikes is not what we want.”

“What we want is to negotiate an offer we can put to our members and for our members to accept it,” he continued.
