South Korean liberal Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung was stabbed in the neck while in a crowd, sustaining a non-life-threatening injury.
The attacker, dressed as a supporter of Lee, was detained, and a possible charge of attempted murder is being investigated.

Senior member, Jung Chungrae, said, “It was a close call because it was not an artery, but a vein” was stabbed.
South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol said, “[T]his form of violence should not be tolerated under any circumstances in our society.”
The liberal Democratic Party called it an “act of terror” and an “attack against democracy.”
Lee, who narrowly lost the 2022 election, faced corruption charges and went on a hunger strike to protest them.
South Koreans are divided over Yoon and Lee, with Lee expected to run for president again in 2027.
