During a New Year’s Eve performance, Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong changed the lyrics of “American Idiot” to sing “I’m not a part of the MAGA agenda” as a shot at Donald Trump and his supporters.
The original lyrics were altered to criticize the MAGA agenda. Armstrong has been a vocal critic of Trump, previously expressing strong feelings against him and comparing him to Hitler.
“I f—— hate Donald Trump so much,” said Armstrong.
“I used to scream I hated George Bush. This one is a little different,” said the singer.
The performance was part of ABC’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve broadcast, which also featured a pretaped interview with President Joe Biden discussing the country’s position and recovery. (Trending: Fauci’s Ex-Boss Admits The Truth About COVID)
“This one is bad, it’s like acid gone bad. f—— LSD and the American Right, man,” he continued.
“The worst problem I see about Trump is who his followers are. I actually feel bad for them, because they’re poor, working-class people who can’t get a leg up. They’re pissed off and he’s preyed on their anger,” said Armstrong in an interview.
“He just said, ‘You have no options, and I’m going to take care of it myself.’ I mean, that’s f–—– Hitler, man! I don’t even know how else to explain it. I wish I were over-exaggerating. And sometimes maybe I do over-exaggerate with Bush. But with Trump, I just can’t wait ’til he’s gone,” explained the Green Day frontman.
“I hope that [people] understand that we’re in a better position than any country in the world to lead the world,” said Biden about celebrities moving out.
“And we’re coming back, and it’s about time,” he continued.
“I just feel good, the American people got up. They’ve been through a rough time with the pandemic, but now we’re coming back, they’re back,” added Biden.
