A man crawled into the engine of a Delta Air Lines jet at Salt Lake City International Airport and died.

The man, identified as Kyler Efinger, had accessed the airport’s secure ramp area and crawled into the aircraft engine during deicing operations.

His death is under investigation, and it’s unclear what caused it. (Trending: Obama Judge Issues Shock Ruling Against Democrats)

The incident led to the cancellation of the flight, and various authorities, including the police, FAA, NTSB, and TSA, are involved in the investigation.

The man “ran to the south end of the airport’s west runway where deicing operations were underway and crawled into an aircraft engine that was not running,” the airport noted.

Emergency responders discovered him “unconscious and were not able to revive him,” they added.

“It is unclear at this time what injuries caused the man’s death.”

“SLCPD officers and Airport Operations pulled the man from the engine’s intake cowling, secured the scene, began lifesaving efforts, and requested emergency medical services,” law enforcement noted.
