A former New York City model is suing her former agency for not adequately marketing her as a male model after she began identifying as transgender.
A civil lawsuit filed in Manhattan on Dec. 19 by Frances Coombe alleges Muse Model Management refused to market her as a masculine model.
Coombe claimed that when she began to change her appearance and gender identity beginning in October 2021, Muse CEO Conor Kennedy did not accommodate her.
She alleges that the agency’s standards for male models cost her income and caused emotional distress.
She is seeking $300,000 from Muse for lost income as well as other damages.
The lawsuit claims that the agency’s CEO did not accommodate her gender identity and discriminated against her.
The model is seeking a settlement for lost wages, damages, and legal fees.
