A post from a Major League Baseball insider suggests that Franco is unlikely to be released soon.
The legal age of consent in the Dominican Republic is 18, and these allegations have affected Franco’s playing status.
The Rays have refrained from commenting on the situation.
In November 2021, Franco signed an 11-year, $182 million agreement with the team.
