The House Committee on Ethics has initiated an investigative subcommittee probe into allegations against Representative Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (D-FL), following a referral from the Office of Congressional Ethics.
The inquiry focuses on potential violations of campaign finance laws, failure to disclose required information, and the use of taxpayer-funded resources for official work.
The investigation aims to determine whether she breached the Code of Official Conduct or any applicable standards. (Trending: Democrat Targets U.S. Troops With New Gun Control Law)
Spokesperson Jonathan Levin said, “As the Ethics Committee said in its statement, the mere fact of establishing an investigative subcommittee does not itself indicate that any violation occurred.”
“Regardless, the Congresswoman takes these matters seriously and is working to resolve them,” he continued.
Cherfilus-McCormick’s political journey includes a closely contested race in 2021, where she emerged as the victor by a narrow margin.
