Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is steadfast in his 2024 presidential bid, positioning the election as a moral choice for voters and emphasizing the need to confront Donald Trump.
Despite calls to drop out, Christie is determined to be the anti-Trump voice in the race, with a recent ad directly criticizing Trump’s character and actions.
Christie argues that his supporters may not automatically back Haley if he exits the race. (Trending: Donald Trump Breaks His Silence After Major Court Win)
“Donald Trump – he will sell the soul of this country,” Christie says to the camera.
“I’m not perfect. I’ve made mistakes. But I will always tell you the truth.”
However, his support in New Hampshire trails behind Nikki Haley and Trump, leading to concerns that his candidacy could split the anti-Trump vote.
“I know he says he wants to stay in the race to speak the truth about Trump, but that translating to votes in a primary is a very different thing and he’s hit a ceiling,” New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu said.
“There’s no doubt that if Christie stays in the race, the risk is that he takes her margin of the win,” Sununu said.
Meanwhile, Haley has been more subtle in her approach to addressing Trump, prompting Christie to stay in the race as the outspoken critic of the former president.
“He’s not Voldemort from the ‘Harry Potter’ books. He’s not ‘he who shall not be named,’” Christie said.
“Some people say I should drop out of this race. Really? I’m the only one saying Donald Trump is a liar,” Christie added.
“He’ll burn America to the ground to help himself.”
“Every Republican leader says that in private. I’m the only one saying it in public.”
