California Secretary of State Shirley Weber decided to keep former President Donald Trump on the state’s presidential primary ballot for March 5, 2024, despite calls from Democrats to remove him due to alleged violations of the 14th Amendment.
This decision contrasts recent actions in Colorado and Maine, where Trump was removed from primary ballots.
Additionally, Republican Assemblyman Vince Fong was initially barred from the California primary ballot but successfully challenged the decision in court. (Trending: Melania Trump Announces Big Change For 2024)
California Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis will “explore every legal option to remove former President Donald Trump from California’s 2024 presidential primary ballot.”
Weber responded that the reason must “be grounded firmly in the laws and processes in place in California and our Constitution.”
In response to the Maine ruling, the Trump campaign plans to appeal, and the Colorado GOP has already appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court.
