A Tesla engineer was attacked by a robot at the Giga Texas factory, leaving him with a severe injury.
The incident was reported to authorities, but concerns about underreported injuries and deaths at the factory have been raised.
Allegations suggest that Tesla’s contractors provided false safety certificates, and previous findings indicate that the company may have misclassified on-the-job accidents. (Trending: Trump Releases Must-See TV Ad Ahead of 2024)
The factory’s injury rate surpasses industry medians, with reports of various severe injuries, including a worker unable to work for over four months.
Attorney Hannah Alexander of the nonprofit Workers Defense Project, said, “My advice would be to read that report with a grain of salt.”
“We’ve had multiple workers who were injured…and one worker who died, whose injuries or death are not in these reports that Tesla is supposed to be accurately completing and submitting to the county in order to get tax incentives,” continued Alexander.
“Workers report that when they needed training, they were simply sent PDF files or images of certificates through text or WhatsApp in a matter of days,” claimed Alexander.
“There’s no conceivable way workers could have even taken the training required,” he added.
The rapid construction of the Giga Texas facility and lax safety measures have been linked to increased injuries.
The factory’s location in an ‘unincorporated’ area has raised questions about tax incentives and compliance with requirements.
