Josh Slavin, a recent college graduate, has gained attention on social media for recreating and tasting the final meals requested by death row inmates.
He shares his ratings and insights on Instagram, attracting true crime enthusiasts.
Slavin, who works in finance, believes there is a morbid curiosity about these meals and the circumstances surrounding them. (Trending: Melania Trump Announces Big Change For 2024)
He researches the criminals, their crimes, and the food, and then cooks, tastes, and ranks the dishes.
While some criticize his project for potentially glorifying murderers, Slavin aims to share thought-provoking content without imposing his opinions.
Slavin said, “There wasn’t any rhyme or reason why I chose [Rector] to start.”
“It looked simple to throw together,” he continued.
“I enjoy making [the content], people enjoy consuming it, and I decided to keep doing new renditions and covering new criminals,” added Slavin.
“I, and I think others, have an innate infatuation and a morbid curiosity about these types of things,” continued the college graduate.
“Death is something everyone obviously faces,” explained Slaviin.
“Yet to have the rare opportunity to select exactly what you want [to eat] right before you die is a very rare human circumstance and that’s fascinating,” he added.
“In my opinion, ice cream alone is a poor final meal choice and choosing mint chocolate chip as the flavor only makes the decision worse,” said Slavin.
“I’m placing this meal in ‘D tier,'” he commented. “The No. 1 meal that I made was that of Alton Coleman,” said Slavin.
“I look at the dishes they select, the story behind the crime, the story behind the selection of the meal, how they engaged in the meal,” explained Slavin.
“Their stories encompass the background of how their case took place, what they may have eaten growing up,” he continued.
