A 23-year-old Brazilian fan, Ana Clara Benevides Machado, died from heat exhaustion at a Taylor Swift concert in Rio de Janeiro.
The high temperature at the show, part of Swift’s “The Eras Tour,” reached 105 degrees, leading to multiple illnesses and faintings.
Swift contacted the fan’s family, donated money, and invited them to another show. (Trending: Democrat Targets U.S. Troops With New Gun Control Law)
“[It] is with a shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show,” Swift said.
The company organizing the concert is under investigation, denying allegations of inadequate water supply.
“In our 40 years in the business, this company had never registered a tragic episode,” concert organizer TF4 said.
Authorities are expected to investigate further following the release of the official cause of death.
