Tesla has issued a recall for over two million cars due to concerns about its Autopilot feature, following an investigation by the NHTSA.
The system has been found to be inadequate in preventing driver misuse, leading to 11 crashes.
Despite Tesla’s voluntary recall and a software update to enhance safety, Consumer Reports and the NHTSA believe the fixes are insufficient, as they do not fully address the root causes of driver inattention and misuse.
The NHTSA has mandated additional safety checks for engaging Autosteer as part of the recall.
