Former President Joe Biden responded to Nikki Haley’s vague explanation of the cause of the American Civil War.
At a town hall event, Haley failed to mention slavery as a cause, leading to criticism.
“It was about slavery,” wrote Biden in four simple words.
Biden later clarified that the war was indeed about slavery. (Trending: Democrat Targets U.S. Troops With New Gun Control Law)
Haley later acknowledged the role of slavery but emphasized the contemporary significance of the war as being about freedom.
“What do you want me to say about slavery?” asked Haley. “Next question.”
“Of course the Civil War was about slavery,” said Haley.
“We know that,” she continued.
”That’s the easy part of it. What I was saying was, what does it mean to us today? What it means to us today is about freedom. That’s what that was all about,” aded the former South Carolina governor.
