U.S. stealth aircraft have been spotted with a new mirror-like, metallic coating, aimed at reducing their infrared signature.

The Navy has placed this technology on a jet assigned to an aircraft carrier to gather field data under harsh conditions, suggesting active research and development.

The move is seen as a response to the potential threat posed by China’s advancements in infrared tracking systems.

This technology is crucial in light of warnings about potential conflict with China in the near future.

In a leaked internal memo obtained by NBC News in January, , head of Air Mobility Command, warned of China, “I hope I am wrong. My gut tells me will fight in 2025,” Air Force Gen. Mike Minihan said of China in a leaded memo.
