The Michigan Supreme Court rejected an attempt to remove Donald Trump from the state’s primary ballot in 2024, despite left-leaning groups seeking to cite the 14th Amendment to bar him due to alleged “insurrection” on January 6, 2021.
This decision contrasts with Colorado’s unprecedented ruling to remove Trump from the ballot.
The court emphasized differences in election laws. Trump’s attorneys argued against the removal, and the ruling is seen as a legal victory for Trump’s campaign amid multiple ballot challenges for the 2024 election. (Trending: Trans Athlete Breaks College Record After Joining Women’s Team)
“Significantly, Colorado’s election laws differ from Michigan’s laws in a material way that is directly relevant to why the appellants in this case are not entitled to the relief they seek concerning the presidential primary election in Michigan,” the ruling stated.
“We are not persuaded that the questions presented should be reviewed by this court.”
