Shaul Greenglick, a contestant on Israel’s version of American Idol, The Next Star, was killed in action while fighting Hamas in the northern Gaza Strip.

He was a member of the IDF and an aspiring singer who had performed on the show in uniform, with his family cheering him on.

He had recorded a song for Israel’s Memorial Day and was shown in a video with his family while on leave.

Greenglick was laid to rest as one of over 160 soldiers who have fallen since the IDF’s counter-offensive in Gaza.
