Rep. Brian Mast, a Republican from Florida, made controversial remarks on the House floor, suggesting that there are very few innocent Palestinian citizens and comparing the situation to World War II.

He was debating a bill related to Hamas and the Gaza Strip, and proposed an amendment to alter the wording to require President Biden to give out waivers on a case-by-case basis.

Mast, who previously served as a volunteer with the Israel Defense Forces, made these comments amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, which has led to civilian casualties. (Trending: Trans Athlete Breaks College Record After Joining Women’s Team)

He also criticized the Palestinian Authority and expressed skepticism about the innocence of Palestinian civilians.

“I would encourage the other side to not so lightly throw around the idea of innocent Palestinian civilians, as frequently said,” Mast said.

“I don’t think we would so lightly throw around the term ‘innocent Nazi civilians’ during World War II.”

“There is not this far stretch to say there are very few innocent Palestinian civilians,” Mast said.

“I haven’t seen the videos of the innocent Palestinian civilians that were out there trying to protect the Israelis, that were out there trying to stop the attacks, trying to get the captives returned instead of taken into tunnel systems.”
