Abdul Rahman, a Queens man, has been charged in a 140-count indictment for allegedly obtaining 32 fraudulent absentee ballots for a Democratic primary election in New York City.
The fraudulent ballots were discovered on Primary Day when a voter was told he couldn’t vote due to an absentee ballot being requested in his name.
Rahman faces multiple charges and could be imprisoned for up to seven years if convicted.

The specific contest involved in the alleged ballot fraud was not disclosed, but it is believed to be a state Senate race.
Rahman was arraigned and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 30.
“Every vote has to count. Election integrity is the foundation of a viable, working democracy. We will vigorously prosecute anyone who threatens in any way to undermine that integrity,” Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said.
