The immigration court backlog in the United States has surpassed three million cases under President Joe Biden, with border crossers and illegal aliens receiving court dates and check-in dates years into the future.

The overwhelming majority of these individuals do not have valid asylum claims.

This surge in backlog has been attributed to the policy of releasing border crossers and illegal aliens into the U.S. interior, leading to criticism from some Democrats who are calling for changes in the asylum standard and expedited hearings. “The immigration court backlog passed three million pending cases. Just 12 months ago, during November 2022, the backlog was 2 million,” researchers at Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) at Syracuse University wrote.

“My Mayor is blaming everyone except the person who needs to get the blame, and that is President Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, who are responsible for protecting and securing our borders and for having a functional immigration system,” Alderman Raymond Lopez said.

“We need to raise the critical fear standard on the border,” Rep. Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX) said.

“We need to have expedited hearings and expedited removals.”
