Last year, he experienced a life-threatening health crisis, including blood clots, internal bleeding, and surgeries.
“A year ago, I was struggling after getting home from the hospital,” wrote Roker.
“This week marks 60 days in a row of 10k+ steps a day,” celebrated the host.
“Been a long road with a lot of folks helping me along the way,” he added, thanking his family for “leading the charge.”
“I had this internal bleeding going on. I lost half my blood,” reflected Roker about a health scare last year.
“And they were trying to figure out where it was. And finally, they went in, did the surgery,” he continued.
“I had two bleeding ulcers,” revealed the TV personality.
Adding, “As we were decompressing and debriefing, Deborah and Leila talked about how difficult and bad it was.”
Despite the challenges, Roker underwent knee replacement surgery and focused on getting stronger.
“(I thought) well, what are you going to do?” recalled Roker about his knee surgery.
“I’m just going to get better, and here we go, it’s next year,” recalled Roker.
“I’m not one much for looking back. I would prefer to look forward,” he added.
He now consistently takes over 10,000 steps daily, showing significant progress in his recovery.
