Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards addressed rumors about pressuring a woman to have an abortion.
Screenshots of a text conversation with model Paige Jordae surfaced, showing Edwards allegedly urging her to have an abortion and offering money for it.
Edwards texted, “Hell naw I can’t do this,” and “Get a abortion lol.” (Trending: FBI Bribery Probe Caught Joe Biden’s Brother On Tape)
“Honestly I had an abortion with my son around 2 years ago and I regret it everyday,” Jordae replied.
Edwards responded, “Man you can’t force a kid in da world,” adding, “You don’t know what it is yet,” and “Yea but I don’t want a kid.”
Edwards allegedly offered Jordae $100,000 to have the abortion, and wanted footage of her taking the pills.
The controversy erupted after his current girlfriend announced her pregnancy. Edwards seemingly cheated on his girlfriend with Jordae.
Edwards issued a statement, expressing regret for his comments and emphasizing support for women’s decisions regarding their bodies.
“I made comments in the heat of a moment that are not me, and that are not aligned with what I believe and who I want to be as a man,” Edwards wrote online.
“All women should be supported and empowered to make their own decisions about their bodies and what is best for them,” he said.
Edwards said he would be “handling my personal matters privately” and “will not be commenting on them any further at this time.”
