Eve Gilles, Miss France 2024, faced backlash for her pixie cut hairstyle, being the first winner in the pageant’s history without long hair.

Social media criticized the judges for supporting “wokeness,” but Gilles defended her choice, emphasizing the uniqueness of every woman.

The Miss Universe pageant spokesperson also supported Gilles, highlighting the diversity of hairstyles. (Trending: Bud Light Gets Bad News Ahead of Christmas)

Gilles emphasized her desire to show that women are diverse and beautiful in their uniqueness.

“We’re used to seeing beautiful Misses with long hair, but I chose an androgynous look with short hair,” she said.

“No one should dictate who you are… every woman is different, we’re all unique.”

“There is no one way to be Miss Universe or Miss France, and we embrace every look that comes across our stage. We represent the times, and being your confident unique self is the one thing we see being reflected in all of our winners,” a Miss Universe pageant spokesperson said.

“We saw personal styles and hair of all types – and we love it! Short, long, curly,” the statement added.

Gilles said, “I want to be a strong woman, I want to make people realize that no matter where you start, no matter what path you take, you can achieve your goals.”

“I want to show people that women are diverse, that we’re all beautiful, that we’re all different and unique. I’m not unique because of my hair, I’m unique because I’m Eve.”

The pageant’s evolving rules now allow for greater diversity, removing age limits and restrictions on marital status, children, and tattoos.
