Ben Cardin tells us that he is “terribly angered” about staffer who apparently filmed a sex tape in Hart 216. Says his office is cooperating with Capitol Police. Wouldn’t characterize what the aide was like/their relationship. Doesn’t know if charges are coming

“It’s a breach of trust,” Cardin said.
“It’s my understanding Capitol Police is doing the investigation.”
“It’s a personnel issue.”
“So, we clearly will be — I’m not going to comment on the personnel issue and it’s under investigation.”
The staffer, Aidan Maese-Czeropski, defended himself, claiming that he was attacked for his sexual orientation.
Maese-Czeropski said, “I have been attacked for who I love to pursue a political agenda. While some of my actions in the past have shown poor judgment, I love my job and would never disrespect my workplace.”
The incident occurred in a Senate committee hearing room, and the Capitol Police are still investigating.
Senator Cardin is not seeking re-election in 2024, and Senator Joe Manchin made a lighthearted comment about the situation.
Manchin told journalists pressing Cardin to “leave that beautiful man alone.”
