The southern border is experiencing a surge in migrant encounters, with a record-breaking 12,600 encounters in 24 hours.

Since the end of Title 42, migrant encounters have increased, leading to stretched border resources and closures of road and rail crossings.

The Biden administration’s plan to control the flow involved migrants waiting in another country to apply for asylum, but the backlog for immigration hearings has reached 3 million names. (Trending: Supreme Court Delivers Historic Ruling on AR-15s)

“Do not just show up at the border. Stay where you are and apply legally from there,” President Biden said.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas later said, “People who arrive at the border without using a lawful pathway will be presumed ineligible for asylum.”

Members of the GOP are preparing impeachment articles against DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for his perceived failure to secure the southern border.

“12,600 migrants encountered at the southern border in the last 24 hours. The highest single-day total ever recorded. Breaks the previous record from two weeks ago. How long until the record is broken again?” Rep. Jim Jordan pressed.
