The White House declined to comment on whether President Biden considered Trump an insurrectionist after the Colorado Supreme Court disqualified Trump from the state’s presidential primary ballot, citing it as a legal process related to an upcoming election.
Press secretary Jean-Pierre also declined to comment on whether Biden hopes the federal Supreme Court will quickly decide on a likely appeal, stating that the president and the administration are not involved and will not comment on any court decision.
“I cannot comment on anything that is related to an upcoming election like 2024, and this is a legal process, so I’m just not going to comment,” press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said. (Trending: Supreme Court Delivers Historic Ruling on AR-15s)
“What I can say is the president’s not involved. We’re not involved in it,” she said.
“Just not going to get involved in any court decision that’s made. Supreme Court, any court decision is a legal process. We’re going to leave it alone, not comment. … We try to do our best to follow the law and just not going to comment on this.”
The Colorado Supreme Court’s 4-3 decision ruled Trump ineligible under the U.S. Constitution’s insurrection clause, and the decision is stayed until Jan. 4 or until the U.S. Supreme Court rules on the case.
