A recent CBS News/YouGov poll shows former President Donald Trump leading the Republican field in Iowa with 58 percent support, significantly ahead of his closest competitor, Ron DeSantis, who has 22 percent.

The poll also indicates that 76 percent of respondents are considering backing Trump, with the majority believing that things were better under his leadership and that he represents Iowa values.

Additionally, 64 percent of respondents believe Trump has the best chance of beating Joe Biden in a potential 2020 rematch. (Trending: Supreme Court Delivers Historic Ruling on AR-15s)

DeSantis is seen as the second-best candidate to potentially defeat Biden, with 40 percent of participants believing he would definitely win over Biden.

“The poll also asked voters who they were considering backing beyond who they would support if the caucuses were today, finding that 76 percent of the respondents are considering backing Trump – the only candidate to pull a majority in this regard,” the report noted.

“Only 18 percent of respondents are not considering him in the caucuses.”
