Philadelphia City Council, controlled by Democrats, has passed a bill to ban hospitals from sending illegal aliens to their native countries for long-term medical care.
The bill requires hospitals to keep such individuals in Philadelphia, obtain informed consent for repatriation, explore eligibility for emergency health insurance, and face investigations if complaints are filed.
This move comes amid concerns about the cost of subsidizing medical care for illegal aliens, which amounted to $18.5 billion annually for Americans. (Trending: FBI Bribery Probe Caught Joe Biden’s Brother On Tape)
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, “Under the new law, patients must give their informed consent to be repatriated after the circumstances have been explained to them orally and in writing — and in a language they understand, if they are not proficient in English.”
“A hospital must stop efforts toward repatriation if a patient does not consent,” continued the outlet.
“Patients who are incompetent cannot consent,” they explained.
Adding, “The law requires hospitals to explore a patient’s eligibility for emergency health insurance and to produce a written report explaining why removal to another country is appropriate.”
City officials will reportedly investigate complaints that hospitals are violating this law.
