U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced a multinational maritime task force to address the threat of Houthi rebels in Yemen to global shipping in the Red Sea.

The Houthis, supported by Iran, have been attacking passing ships, posing a threat to international trade.

President Biden’s policies have been criticized for allowing the Houthis free rein and delisting them as a terrorist organization. (Trending: Devastating News For Hunter Biden After Defying Subpoena)

“Before leaving office, Trump officially listed the Houthis as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO), which gave his successor the power to pursue the rebels — as well as their finances,” the report noted.

“But President Biden had no interest in doing so. Within days of taking office, Biden ‘announce[d] an end to American support for offensive operations in Yemen,’ and the administration soon delisted the Houthis as a terrorist organization, ostensibly so that humanitarian aid could reach Yemen, but also likely to appease Iran,” the report added.

The situation has led to concerns about the safety of global shipping and the potential for further attacks.
