This incident is part of a disturbing pattern of young people becoming radicalized online.
The RCMP stated that the minor has been charged with the facilitation of a terrorist activity “by communicating instructional material related to an explosive substance” and has been charged with “instructing, directly or indirectly, a person to carry out a terrorist activity against Jewish persons.”
“He’s too young,” the boy’s father said.
“He doesn’t have any plan of terrorism attacks or something.”
Pierre Poilievre wrote, “The alleged terror plot targeting Jews in Ottawa should awaken us to the horrifying rise of antisemitism since Hamas’ genocidal Oct. 7 attack on Israel.”
“We must redouble our efforts to protect our people and defeat anti-Jewish hatred. Thanks to the RCMP for their work to protect our people,” he added.
Additionally, in Europe, seven people, including suspected Hamas terrorists, were arrested in three countries for allegedly plotting terrorist attacks against Jews.
German Justice Minister Marco Buschmann stated that German law enforcement “in cooperation with Dutch authorities, today arrested four members of Hamas who were planning attacks on Jewish institutions in Europe.”
“Abdelhamid Al A., Mohamed B., Ibrahim El-R. and Nazih R. have been longstanding members of HAMAS and have participated in HAMAS operations abroad,” prosecutors stated.
“They are closely linked to the military branch’s leadership.”
“On behalf of HAMAS, Abdelhamid Al A. started searching for an underground weapons cache in Europe no later than spring 2023, which the organisation had created in the past in a conspiratorial manner,” prosecutors said.
“He received his orders from HAMAS leaders in Lebanon. The weapons were due to be taken to Berlin and kept in a state of readiness in view of potential terrorist attacks against Jewish institutions in Europe. In October 2023, Abdelhamid Al A., Mohamed B. and Nazih R. travelled repeatedly from Berlin to look for the weapons, with Ibrahim El-R. providing assistance.”
