Independent presidential candidate Dr. Cornel West believes President Biden may not make it to the general election and could pull back from his reelection bid, comparing it to President Johnson’s decision in 1968.
West mentioned the possibility of running against “B Team” Democrats like Gavin Newsom and Gretchen Whitmer.
He criticized Donald Trump as a “bona fide gangsta, Neo-fascist” and described Biden as a “milquetoast neoliberal with military adventurism.” (Trending: Democrat Excludes White People From Holiday Party In Controversial Email)
West denied being a “spoiler” for Democrats and expressed concerns about Trump domestically and Biden in foreign policy.
“Instead, the independent presidential candidate suggested the sitting president could suddenly end his reelection bid the way President Lyndon B. Johnson did when he shocked the nation in 1968,” Politico noted.
“I’m not even sure whether I’ll be running against Biden,” West said.
“Biden — I think he’s going to have an LBJ moment [and] pull back.”
“I’m just saying that I’m open to those possibilities, given the fluidity of the situation,” West added.
“He’s running out of gas.”
West called Trump a “bona fide gangsta, Neo-fascist, Pied Piper leading the country for the second civil war.”
He then labeled Biden a “milquetoast neoliberal with military adventurism, possibly leading the world toward World War III.”
“I’m more concerned about Trump domestically,” West said. “I’m more concerned about Biden in terms of foreign policy.”
“Cornell West should go back to liberal academia instead of playing pretend politics,” Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung said.
“He still hasn’t graduated from the kids table.”
“I don’t accept the spoiler category,” West said.
“A vote for Biden, a vote for Trump is a vote for Biden and a vote for Trump.”
“There might be slices of people ‘if I didn’t vote for West, I would have voted for Biden,’” he said.
“But that’s not to me, a spoiler. If you’re in a race, and you make a case, and they vote for you, how do you become the spoiler?”
