Hunter Biden’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, vigorously defended his client on MSNBC, emphasizing the unique scrutiny Hunter faces due to his connection to President Joe Biden.
Lowell refuted tax-related allegations against Hunter, highlighting his struggles with addiction and efforts to take accountability.
The interview concluded with Lowell stating his intent to file motions to dismiss the charges in Delaware, asserting that the legal challenges are intertwined with political motivations. (Trending: Kid Rock Rages Against ‘Woke’ Target)
Abe Lowell said, “I mean, it’s because his last name is Biden, but it’s not like they’re going after, you know, some distant cousin.”
“It’s because he is the son of the president who’s named Biden,” insisted the attorney.
“But did he file a false return? Did he evade taxes? Yes or no?” said MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski.
“It’s not a yes or no,” Lowell responded.
“I don’t think the government will be able to prove in any way that Hunter owed taxes in that year. So you can’t ask a yes-or-no question on a complex area of law,” he explained.
“What you can say is Hunter was late in filing and paying taxes in certain years,” admitted Lowell.
Adding, “That is a given as are millions and millions of Americans who do the same thing.”
“The difference is millions and millions of Americans who do the same thing are not then confronted with a 56 page nine-count indictment,” alleged Lowell.
Hunter Biden is facing federal tax charges and potential prison time, with the case continuing to attract national attention.
Special Counsel David Weiss released a statement saying, “According to the indictment, Hunter Biden engaged in a four-year scheme in which he chose not to pay at least $1.4 million in self-assessed federal taxes he owed for tax years 2016 through 2019 and to evade the assessment of taxes for tax year 2018 when he filed false returns.”
