At the COP28 climate talks in Dubai, 80,000 delegates from around the world cheered as a directive to transition away from fossil fuels was issued.

The agreement aims for a just and orderly move away from fossil fuels to achieve net zero by 2050.

The deal was described as bringing “transformational change” and marks the beginning of the end of fossil fuels. (Trending: Democrat Excludes White People From Holiday Party In Controversial Email)

The group announced a goal of “transitioning away from fossil fuels in energy systems, in a just, orderly and equitable manner … so as to achieve net zero by 2050 in keeping with the science.”

Summit President Sultan Al Jaber and head of the United Arab Emirates’ national oil company said, “You did step up, you showed flexibility, you put common interest ahead of self-interest.”

Jaber continued, “We have helped restore faith and trust in multilateralism, and we have shown that humanity can come together.”

“We have language on fossil fuel in our final agreement, for the first time ever,” said Jaber before hearing an applause.

Planning will now start to set timelines and requirements for the world to shift to renewables.

E.U. climate chief Wopke Hoekstra called the agreement “long, long overdue”, noting 30 years of negotiations occurred before they were able to “arrive at the beginning of the end of fossil fuels.”

Additionally, discussions on reparations, including funds from wealthy nations to poorer ones impacted by climate change, are ongoing.
