Vladimir Putin vows there will be no peace in Ukraine until he achieves his aims.
Slovakia’s Prime Minister Fico has ended military aid to Ukraine and is skeptical about letting Ukraine join NATO.
Despite the differences, Stoltenberg attempted to reconcile with Fico.
“If Putin wins in Ukraine, there is real risk that his aggression will not end there. Our support is not charity. It is an investment in our security,” Stoltenberg said.
“People in Europe won’t see any benefit if Moscow receives a pass from Brussels in the form of negativity towards Ukraine,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said.
“Putin will surely use this against you personally, and against all of Europe. Don’t give him this first – and only – victory of the year.”
“The enemy has declared a big counteroffensive, but he hasn´t achieved anything anywhere… I believe it’s stupid and irresponsible on behalf of the country’s political leadership, but it’s their business,” Putin said.
