Congress passed the annual defense policy bill, authorizing $886 billion for national security programs.

The legislation focuses on boosting the military, technology development, and countering adversaries like Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea.

It includes a 5.2% pay raise for military members, addresses “woke” ideology, UFO disclosure, and extends FISA Section 702. (Trending: Joe Biden Impeachment Formalized As Republicans Unite)

The bill is separate from a national security package being debated and faced opposition from both Republicans and some Democrats due to various concerns.

“At a time of huge trouble for global security, passing the defense authorization bill is more important than ever,” said Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY).

“It will ensure America can hold the line against Russia, stand firm against the Chinese Communist Party, and ensures that America’s military remains state of the art at all times, all around the world.”
