The Biden administration has introduced the “Safer States Initiative” to prevent gun violence, urging states to establish dedicated offices for gun violence prevention and adopt model legislation for regulating firearm storage and reporting lost or stolen guns.
The initiative aims to work closely with states, emphasizing responsible gun ownership, background checks, and addressing instances of gun violence.
It also advocates for stronger regulations on gun dealers and ending federal protection for gun manufacturers from liability. (Trending: Here Are The Most Disturbing Ways Hunter Biden Spent His Millions)
“These are all policies where the White House in this administration [has] made progress at the federal level,” said Stefanie Feldman, director of the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention.
“We are going to continue to call on Congress to act, but in the meantime, we are going to be working hand in hand with states to advance all these agenda items.”
“We’ve been meeting with state legislators ever since the start of our office, and one thing we hear all the time is they want to do more to reduce gun violence,” she added.
“In the months ahead, the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention will work with states to make sure they have the resources needed to advance this life-saving agenda,” the White House document reads.
“In addition to banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, states should ban the possession of unserialized firearms, often referred to as ‘ghost guns.'”
