Fusa Tatsumi, the oldest person in Japan, passed away at 116 years old.
She died in a nursing home in Kashiwara, known for her cheerful demeanor.

Tatsumi’s eldest son said, “I can only be grateful that she survived with the help of generous nursing care.”
Adding, “She was the oldest mother in Japan and was able to accomplish something that no one could do.”
Previously declared the oldest person in Japan, she received recognition from the Osaka Prefecture Gov. Yoshimura.
“I still can’t forget how energetic Fusa Tatsumi was,” wrote Gov. Hirofumi Yoshimura about her passing.
“We sincerely pray for the repose of the soul of Fusa Tatsumi,” added the bureaucrat.
María Branyas Morera of Spain currently holds the title of the world’s oldest person at 116 years old.
