Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s efforts to secure additional American aid and a border security package have hit a roadblock as Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell informed fellow Republicans that negotiations for 2023 are dead.
Republican opposition to more aid has grown, citing concerns from voters and the need for a clear strategy from the Biden administration in assisting Ukraine’s conflict with Russia.

McConnell’s comments happen just as Zelenskyy makes a U.S. speaking tour accompanied by members of Biden’s cabinet, requesting more money and munitions for their war.
Zelenskyy met with Speaker Mike Johnson and Johsnon exited the meeting reinforcing his commitment to the border over Ukraine.
“We need a clear articulation of the strategy,” he said.
