Turkish parliamentarian Hasan Bitmez collapsed after delivering a speech condemning Israel’s actions against Hamas in Gaza.
He accused Israel of “crimes against humanity” and “ethnic cleansing” before collapsing and being taken to intensive care.
Bitmez is a member of the Islamist Saadet Party and was critical of Israel’s military response, which has strained relations between Turkey and Israel. (Trending: LeBron James Shares Gun Advice For Americans)
“Even if history remains silent, the truth will not remain silent,” said Bitmez before collapsing.
“They think that if they get rid of us, there will be no problem,” he continued.
Adding, “However, if you get rid of us, you will not be able to escape the torment of conscience.”
Bitmez’s last words were reportedly, “Israel will not escape the wrath of Allah!”
Saadet Party chair Temel Karamollaoglu told reporters that, “Bitmez’s health was still at risk” and “asked for prayers for his recovery.”
He collapsed while speaking, and his party leader asked for prayers for his recovery.
