Former associate professor John Abraham was awarded $15 million by a federal jury after being found the victim of a gender-biased investigation by his former university, Thomas Jefferson University (TJU).
Abraham claimed that a second-year resident got him drunk and forced herself on him, but when he reported the incident, his claim was ignored and led to a Title IX investigation against him.
Despite his resignation, Abraham sued TJU, arguing that their actions destroyed his career. (Trending: Here Are The Most Disturbing Ways Hunter Biden Spent His Millions)
“I had no choice. There was no option,” Abraham reportedly said at trial.
The school’s Title IX coordinator Zoe Gingold reportedly told Abraham that she thought a “no-charge decision is not possible in this case” and Abraham resigned before the hearing.
Gingold reportedly testified that, “She was a student. He was a teacher. He was in a powerful hierarchy position to her.”
Daily Wire reported, “Abraham sued TJU as well, arguing that the school’s actions have destroyed his career and harmed his ability to make money. Abraham was earning about $2 million in income a year and was a partner and shareholder at the Rothman Orthopedic Institute.”
“The Institute conducted an investigation into Phillips’ claims in 2018 and, while it didn’t fire Abraham, it did restrict him from working in Jefferson hospitals and interacting with Jefferson residents,” continued the report.”
“He was fired last year for allegedly failing to bring in the $1.3 million in annual revenue that partners are required. Abraham has also brought legal action against Rothman,” concluded the outlet.
“His career is in tatters. His practice, dismantled,” said one of Abraham’s attorneys at trial.
Abraham’s lawyer argued that the school was making their decision without considering the simultaneous police investigation.
The jury awarded him $15 million, citing unequal treatment based on gender.
