Rudy Giuliani was rebuked by the federal judge overseeing his defamation damages trial for making “quite defamatory” comments about two Georgia election workers involved in the case.
Giuliani claimed that everything he said about the women was true, including the false claim that “they were engaged in changing votes.”
The judge questioned Giuliani’s attorney about the departure from the attorney’s tone during opening statements and expressed concerns about Giuliani’s potential testimony. (Trending: Here Are The Most Disturbing Ways Hunter Biden Spent His Millions)
US District Judge Beryl Howell said Giuliani’s statements outside the courthouse “could support another defamation claim.”
Judge Howell said Giuliani’s comments about election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss were “negative, quite defamatory statements about them yet again.”
Giuliani reportedly said, “Oh you’re damn right there is. Stay tuned,” when someone challenged his claim of possessing evidence of election fraud.
While questioning Giuliani’s attorney, Joseph Sibley, Howell asked, “How do you reconcile those statements … with his statement yesterday after court that they engaged in criminal conduct?”
“I can’t control everything he does, your honor,” Sibley answered.
Adding, “I think Mr. Giuliani is well aware of the law of defamation, your honor.”
Giuliani, the former mayor of New York, also previously served as the lead federal prosecutor in Manhattan.
“He seems perfectly capable of following instructions should he be given instructions by the court,” said Howell about Giuliani repeating the offense.
Giuliani has already been found liable for defamation and owes the workers over $230,000, with the plaintiffs now seeking tens of millions in damages.
