Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were named as showbusiness’ biggest losers of 2023 due to a scathing review in the Hollywood Reporter, citing their various setbacks including being dropped from a lucrative Spotify deal, criticism of their projects as “whiny,” and their portrayal on South Park.
Additionally, Prince Harry was ordered to pay legal fees in a libel lawsuit.
“The branding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as Hollywood’s biggest losers came on the same day a judge ordered Prince Harry to pay nearly £50,000 pounds (more than $60,000) in legal fees to the publisher of the Daily Mail tabloid for his failed court challenge in a libel lawsuit,” the report noted. “The Hollywood Reporter [is] basically the bible in this city,” Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield said.
“This has got to hurt Harry and Meghan personally and it’s got to have William Morris Endeavor (WME)- her current talent agency – scrambling to figure out what their next steps are.”
