Poll: A Fifth Of Black Voters Want ‘Someone Else’ Instead Of Trump Or Biden

via 60 Minutes

A GenForward survey reveals that President Joe Biden is facing challenges among Black voters, with nearly 1 in 5 Black Americans considering voting for Donald Trump and 20 percent preferring “someone else.”

While Biden still leads among Black adults, his support is lower than in other racial groups.

Concerns about voter turnout, particularly among Black and Latino respondents, are raised, with 20 percent indicating they would not vote if the election were held today. (Trending: Hunter Biden’s Own Memoir Is Coming Back To Haunt Him In Criminal Trial)

Cathy Cohen, the founder and director of the GenForward project said, “It is possible, and we’ve seen it before, that a higher number, in particular Black men because of a kind of hypermasculinity of Donald Trump, could vote for Trump [again].”

“For younger people, it is the threat of a third-party candidate or staying at home,” that should scare Democrats, claimed Cohen.

The survey also highlights inflation as a major concern across all racial groups and indicates a low overall approval rating for President Biden.

“Polling numbers at this point are not predictive of the future,” said Democratic pollster Cornell Belcher, who is not associated with the GenForward survey.

“If Joe Biden fails, it’s not going to be because Black people voted for Donald Trump,” Belcher said, calling the narrative “lazy” and oversimplified.

Belcher said frustrated young people could create “an off-ramp to third-party voting, which is what we saw in 2016.”
