In Michigan, Joe Biden won by a narrow margin in 2020 and the state remains a crucial battleground for the 2024 election. Recent polling is now a cause for worry for the Biden campaign, as disapproval has grown among Michigan voters.

Despite recent Democratic gains, exclusive polling for Newsweek suggests Biden is facing disapproval in the state, with a net approval rating of -14 percent.

The poll also sheds light on voter sentiment regarding Biden’s response to the Israel-Hamas conflict, indicating a -18 percent approval rating. (Trending: Tucker Carlson Reveals ‘Secret’ Project He’s Been Working On For Months)

Furthermore, Biden’s support among the Muslim community is at risk due to his stance on the conflict.

Additionally, Biden’s support for striking auto workers and his communication challenges are highlighted as potential issues.

“Michigan has traditionally been a critical brick in the so-called ‘blue wall’ that’s propelled various Democrats to the White House dating back 30 years,” associate professor of political science Thomas Gift stated.

“Trump was able to flip the Wolverine state narrowly in 2016, and if recent polling is indicative, he looks poised to make a serious run at it again,” he said.

“For Biden, low approvals in Michigan reflect a broader trend across the Rust Belt, which extends to states like Pennsylvania, Ohio, and elsewhere, in which the president is failing to resonate both on cultural and kitchen-table issues.”

“With broader demographic trends of working-class whites shifting toward the Republican Party, Democrats need to make up for these losses with more mobilization of urban and young voters in places like Detroit, Grand Rapids, and Ann Arbor.”

“Right now, Biden is struggling to do exactly that.”

The state’s significance and Biden’s struggles suggest a potential opportunity for Trump in the upcoming election.
