Hunter Biden is scheduled to appear in Washington, DC, on the same day that House Republicans have subpoenaed him for a closed-door deposition.
There is uncertainty about whether he will answer questions as part of the impeachment inquiry.
Hunter Biden’s lawyers have expressed willingness for him to testify publicly on December 13, while House Republicans insist on a closed-door deposition first. (Trending: Tucker Carlson Reveals ‘Secret’ Project He’s Been Working On For Months)
An Oversight Committee spokesperson told reporters, “Chairmen James Comer and Jim Jordan have been clear: Hunter Biden must appear for his deposition on December 13 at 9:30 am, or they will initiate contempt of Congress proceedings.”
“We have simple questions: what did you do to receive these millions of dollars from around the world and what role did your father play in all of this?” said Rep. Comer in anticipation of the hearing.
If he fails to appear, House Republicans plan to hold him in contempt for evading the subpoena.
Hunter Biden has also been charged with federal tax offenses and gun-related charges, but his lawyers have not used this as a reason to avoid questions.
