Authorities in Texas have arrested an undocumented immigrant, Rafael Govea Romero, in connection with the murder of high school cheerleader Lizbeth Medina.
The arrest followed the discovery of Medina’s body by her mother, and the police had released information about potential suspects, including photos of an individual and a vehicle of interest.
Medina’s mother expressed hope for justice, and Romero is currently in custody at Jackson County Jail. (Trending: LeBron James Shares Gun Advice For Americans)
“Although Romero is apprehended, we recognize Lizabeth’s family and friends are grieving and still need support from the community,” Edna Police Chief Rick Boone said.
“The citizens of Edna can now sleep in peace.”
“All I can say is that I hope with all of my heart that there is justice for my daughter,” Medina’s mother, Jacqueline, said.
“Someone hurt my child. Someone took my child from me.”
